Pioneer 10 was launched in 1972 on a mission to fly by Jupiter. It is now on a course out of the solar system in the direction of the star Aldebaran, 68 light years away. Aldebaran is a red giant star and has at least one planet. Pioneer 10 will pass close in about 2 million years. The picture shows Pioneer 10 passing Aldebaran eclipsed by a planet. Pioneer 10 carries a gold plaque showing images of humans and information on earth hopefully understandable by any intelligent life that may find it.
